Dr. Chung, the president of KIRD, had a meeting with the minister of MAF, Lao PDR, and introduced the project 'Integrated Rural Development in Lao PDR with Saemaul Undong¡¯s Participatory Approach' emphasizing the importance of expanding of STC organization and its manpower, and the sustainable operating way of STC after 2019.

The minister of MAF, Lao PDR appreciated performance by KIRD, and agreed the necessity of new organization in charge of SMU project. He also commented that it would be desirable to link SMU project with other existing policy such as Sam-Sang, Rural development and Poverty reduction. In addition, he requested training program not only for village leaders but also for Government officers. Especially, he showed interest in the projects performed in two provinces, and Dr. Chung suggested the minister to visit the project site on May.

Based on the minister's interest and support, the project will be expected to achieve great results with better cooperation from Lao side.
