The Korea Institute for Rural Development (KIRD) offers the 1st year course: Regional Development Policy (Mozambique). Entrusted by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) KIRD designed the short-term country fellowship program in which thirteen (13) policy practitioners and researchers from various government authorities

of the Mozambique including the Ministry of Land, Environment and Rural Development, Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Food Security, and the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Food Security take part from August 28 to September 10, 2016 in Seongnam, Korea.

 

The multi-year country fellowship program - Regional Development Policy - (Mozambique) - aims to help strengthen the capacity of high- and middle-level policy makers and practitioners in strategic planning and implementation for promoting rural and agricultural development of Mozambique in view of the nation's balanced and sustainable regional development. While enlightening the value and role of agriculture and rural development in the globalized world, the program was designed to help developing capacity for projecting strategies, making policies and planning investment for promoting agriculture and rural development of Mozambique. By improving institutional capacity for Mozambican rural development the program is expected to enhance the productivity of rural areas, which will make better quality of life with local people. Furthermore, it will consequently contribute to lead to the nation's economic development and the better lives for people in the long term.

 

This year's program is one of the 3-multi-year country fellowship programs through which a series of short-term fellowship courses are designed and conducted annually for three years from 2016 to 2018 in a consecutive manner. The first year fellowship course in 2016 will enlighten the value and role of rural region and agricultural development in the context of globalization and Mozambique's balanced and sustainable national development. Also, it will help developing capacity for projecting policies and strategies for promoting rural, regional and agricultural development by sharing development experiences including Korea¡¯s regional and rural community development(Saemaul Undong). And the focus of the 1st year fellowship course in 2016 will be highlighted in the two contents module: (1) Balanced and Sustainable Regional Development, (2) Planning and Implementation of Agricultural Development, and (3) Planning and Implementation of Rural Development in Mozambique.

  

The 1st year program will add an extra dimension by including some cultural activities and social program for deepening mutual understanding and building partnership among the participants and between Mozambique and Korea. Participants will be invited to a Korean home for a dinner one evening. And they will have the chances to watch a contemporary Korean cultural performance and to visits some interesting places of historic and cultural relics.
