[Country Fellowship Program] Regional Development Policy for Mozambique: Rural Development Programming

The Korea Institute for Rural Development(KIRD) offers the 2nd year course: Regional Development Policy for Mozambique: Rural Development Programming Entrusted by the Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA), KIRD designed the short-term country fellowship program in which fifteen(15) middle-level policy practitioners who are engaged in rural community from various government authorities of the Mozambique including the Ministry of Land, Environment and Rural Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Budget and National Planning participate from May 11 to May 24, 2017 in Seongnam, Republic of Korea.
The 2nd year Regional Development Policy for Mozambique course aims to develop capacity of practitioners and project managers in federal and state government for designing and implementing community development programs. By improving institutional capacity for Mozambican rural development the program is expected to improve the productivity of rural areas, which will contribute to enhance quality of life with locals. Moreover, it will consequently contribute to Mozambican economic development and the better lives for people in the long term.
This year's program is one of the 3-multi-year country fellowship programs through which a series of short-term fellowship courses are designed and conducted annually for three years from 2016 to 2018 in a consecutive manner. The 2nd year course includes three modules: (1) Enhancement of Agricultural Productivity and Competitiveness, (2) Promotion of Agricultural Credit, Marketing, Value Chains and Farm Income, (3) Promotion of Rural Development and Agricultural HRD.
The program contains case study lectures, field trips, and cultural excursions. The Mozambican delegation will have opportunities to have field trips to local region and cultural sites: Jeonju Hanok Maeul, Bakje Cultural Heritage Complex, Wanju Local Food Station, Rural Development Administration, Gurye Natural Dream Park, etc.
In addition, the delegation will have time to discuss current issues of Mozambique in the target learning subjects. Action Plan will be proceeded with their learning of Korean regional development experience from the course. The attendees will design solutions for facing problems in their country in terms of regional development policy.
