Rural Community Development for Nigeria:
Rural Women¡¯s Empowerment(ICT Capacity
Building and Rural Resource Utilization)

Year Course

Fifteen(15) of women policy practitioners and
administrators related to rural women¡¯s empowerment from the Federal Republic
of Nigeria will take part in country fellowship program¡®Rural Community Development for Nigeria: Rural Women¡¯s
Empowerment(ICT Capacity Building and Rural Resource Utilization) - the 2nd
Year Course¡¯to be held in Seongnam, Republic of Korea,
from the 25th
of May to 9th
of June(16 days). Entrusted by the Korea International Cooperation
Agency(KOICA), the Korea Institute for Rural Development(KIRD) designed and
will implement the fellowship program. The Nigerian delegation is from the
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Budget and National
Planning, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare,
and Delta State governments, etc.
In recognition of the 1st year course in 2016,
the 2nd
year program in 2017 will deepen the depth of the objectives and contents of
the program specialized in empowering rural women¡¯s capacity to cope with the
rapidly changing socio-economic environments of the nation and the rural
economy of Nigeria. The focus of the 2nd year course will be
placed on building women¡¯s capacity of utilizing rural resources and enhancing
the use of enabling technology, in particular, information and communications
technology(ICT) and entrepreneurial skills.
The 2nd year fellowship course in 2017 is composed of the three
program modules : (1) Women¡¯s Role & Participation and Rural Socio-economy,
(2) Rural Development and Strengthening the Capacity of Rural Resources
Utilization, and (3) Building ICT and Business Capacity of Rural Women.
Furthermore like the other female-focused programs, this program
contains various study visits and field trips for the delegation. The
participants will visit Icheon Doniwool Royal Brand Rice
Village, Hakil Rural Village, Wanju Local Food Station,
and Gurye Natural Dream Park
as well as study visits to the Korea Local Information Research and Development
Institute(KLID), the Rural HRD Center, the Korea Agency of Education, Promotion
and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries(EPIS),
etc.
