Rural Development Policy(Mozambique): In-country Fellowship Program

The multi-year country fellowship program - Rural Development Policy for Mozambique - aims to help strengthen the capacity of high- and middle-level policy makers and practitioners in strategic planning and implementation for promoting rural and agricultural development of Mozambique in view of the nation's balanced and sustainable regional development. While enlightening the value and role of agriculture and rural development in the globalized world, the program was designed to help developing capacity for projecting strategies, making policies and planning investment for promoting agriculture and rural development of Mozambique. By improving institutional capacity for Mozambican rural development the program is expected to enhance the productivity of rural areas, which will make better quality of life with local people. A 3-year country fellowship programs through which a series of short-term fellowship courses are being designed and conducted annually for three years from 2016 to 2018.
 

The two invitational fellowship courses were implemented in 2016 and 2017 respectively. While the focus of the 1st year course in 2016 was placed on policy development and strategy formulation for promoting balanced rural and regional development, the 2nd year fellowship course in July 2017 - Programming Rural Development - highlighted strategic programming in major sectors of rural development.

Prior to the 3rd final invitational program in Korea next year in 2018, a very short-term in-country fellowship program convenes in Maputo in November 5 - 9, 2017. Under the auspices of KOICA Mozambique Office, a group of Korean experts visit Maputo and organize an on-site fellowship course in which a variety of field activities including lectures, workshops, and field studies would be carried out in close collaboration with the National Directorate of Rural Development(DNDR), MITADER.

A series of study visits, lectures, and presentations and discussions are arranged during the six(6) day schedule in Maputo. An intensive workshop program will be held for two(2) days at Gloria Hotel on November 8-9, 2017. Monitoring and following up the performance and efficacy of the previous two invitational fellowship courses, a number of lectures and discussions for exploring a further deepened future fellowship program will be given to the participants of the in-country program. Preceded by a series of study visits to key Mozambique authorities and rural villages several lectures will brining up some issues of debates and discussion and a couple of workshop sessions will be held in which participants would review and follow-up the performance of the previous program and exchange ideas and opinions on the future program in 2018.
