[Global Fellowship Program] 'Agricultural Development Strategy and Planning' Course for African and Pacific Countries

Eleven(11) policy practitioners from several African and Pacific countries – Burkina Paso, DR Congo, Fiji, Gambia, Mozambique, and Rwanda - take part in the training course: 'Agricultural Development Strategy and Planning' Course to be held in Seongnam, Korea, from July 16 to August 12, 2015. Entrusted by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the Korea Institute for Rural Development(KIRD) as the implementer of the program formulated the fellowship program.
The Program, one of the KOICA's 2015 Global Fellowship Program, aims to enlighten the value and role of agriculture and rural development in the globalized world as well as to help developing capacity for projecting strategies, making policies and planning investment for promoting agriculture and rural development in their respective developing countries.
The contents of the program was modified based on the three pillars of training module: (1) National development and agricultural and rural modernization; (2) Projecting policies and strategies of agricultural and rural development; (3) Planning and implementation of agricultural and rural development program. The professional program consists of lectures, case studies and discussions on important issues of common interests among the participants as well as Korea¡¯s experience in those issues, and study visits on the sites in the related areas. A series field visits closely related to the lectures and case studies in the classroom will be arranged including a development research institute in Sejong-si, a number of agricultural development administrations and organizations as well as rural villages.
The program will add an extra dimension by including some cultural program for deepening mutual understanding and building partnership among the participants and between the member nations and Korea.
