Twelve Technical experts and field managers of Quirino Province in the Philippines take part in the Fellowship
Program: Quirino Technical Experts and Field Managers Course to be held from August 16 to 29, 2015 in Suwon, Korea.
Entrusted by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the Korea Institute for Rural Development (KIRD) designed the program as one of the three short-term invitational fellowship courses under the Quirino Integrated Agricultural Development Project (QIADP). The Project aims to develop an integrated agricultural development in rural area of Quirino in the Philippines. In close collaboration with the Government of Quirino Province, the KIRD implements the Project which is comprised of a number of sub-projects including agro-forestry and livestock development, vegetable and mushroom cultivation, micro credit and farm-to-market road improvement.
The Fellowship Program is designed to enhance the abilities of technical experts of the local government as well as field managers of the province. By sharing and learning the knowledge and experiences in agricultural techniques on their fields, it is expected that the participants could become familiar with those techniques of Korea, especially highland farming and mushroom cultivation.
The professional program consists of lectures and discussions on major topics in their professional fields as well as Korea¡¯s experiences in those fields, and study visits on the sites in various destinations related to the target subjects. The program will add an extra dimension by including some cultural programs for deepening mutual understanding and building partnership between Philippine and Korea. The field trip to Seoul, Gumi, Gyeongju and Pohang will help the participants understand the Korean culture and history as well as Korea's economy and contemporary society.
Prior to this program the two-week Saemaul Leader Fellowship Course for policy practitioners and community leaders of Quirino Province was underwent in Suwon in May. A study tour program for the top management of Quirino Province will be followed on later October this year.
